The inaugural event of the CTBUH YPC – New York City Chapter was held at the offices of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates on April 15. CTBUH Chairman David Malott and CTBUH Trustee Dennis Poon presented on the exciting new Ping An Finance Center tower, which they have collaborated on for many years.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat has determined that 97 buildings of 200 meters’ height or greater were completed around the world in 2014, including One World Trade Center in New York City.
Plans for the 2015 CTBUH Conference in New York are now well underway, beginning with an initial meeting of the Conference Steering Committee at the Bank of America Tower Nov. 18, kindly hosted by The Durst Organization.
The initial 50 buildings for the conference skyline have been selected. Completed, under construction, or firm proposals from 2013 to date, they must also be iconic projects that challenge current notions of tall building design.
The Conference will be held in the Grand Hyatt New York in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Just steps away from Grand Central Terminal, the Grand Hyatt boasts an ideal Manhattan location, surrounded by many famous tall buildings.
The 2015 conference will convene speaking and poster presentations, as well as panel discussions, focused on the overall conference theme: “Global Interchanges: Resurgence of the Skyscraper City.” CTBUH members of all disciplines interested in presenting at the event are now encouraged to compile a one-page abstract by the 30 January 2015 deadline.
